Advanced Git Mastery for Engineering Teams
History surgery, large-repo workflows, release discipline, and team-scale Git practices
A deep practical Git course for engineers who already know commit, branch, merge, pull, and push, but want professional control over history, collaboration, recovery, and repository scale. The course uses small repeatable projects to teach Git's object model, revision selection, interactive rebase, safe force-push workflows, conflict reuse, bisect-driven debugging, worktrees, sparse checkouts, release engineering, branch protection, signed history, and disaster recovery. Each module includes command-line examples, decision rules, failure modes, and labs that mirror real engineering team situations.
What you will learn
Leave with a working mental model.
- 01 Explain Git objects, refs, HEAD, the index, revision ranges, and the commit graph
- 02 Use log, diff, blame, show, pickaxe, and bisect to investigate history precisely
- 03 Rewrite local history with amend, reset, interactive rebase, autosquash, and rebase --onto
- 04 Resolve merge and rebase conflicts confidently, including rerere-based conflict reuse
- 05 Use worktrees, sparse checkout, partial clone, submodules, and subtrees in large repositories
- 06 Design release, hotfix, protected-branch, and pull-request workflows for teams
- 07 Recover deleted work with reflog and handle secret-removal incidents responsibly
- 08 Complete a capstone repository workflow from feature branch to release and hotfix
Before you begin
